The Big Story Col. Muhoozi promoted to Brigadier, to command Special Forces

President Museveni who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF) has promoted several army officers, including naming the first commander of the Special Forces Command, Brig. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
Col. Kainerugaba has been promoted to Brigadier and appointed commander of the restructured Special Forces Command, which has been expanded from a group. It now comprises of Special Forces One (VIP protection) and Special Forces Two (Motorised Infantry).
Sabiiti Magyenyi, who has been promoted from Lieutenant colonel to Colonel, will command Special Forces One, while Maj. Don Nabasa will command Special Forces Two.
The former Chairman of the UPDF court-martial, Brig. Charles Angina, has been promoted to Major General and appointed Chief of Staff, Land Forces. Gen. Angina replaces Brig. Silver Kayemba.
In other changes, Maj. Gen. Fred Mugisha, the former AMISOM commander has been appointed Joint Chief of Staff. He replaces Lt. Gen. Robert Rusoke who was last week sent to Juba, South Sudan, as ambassador.
The Acting army spokesperson, Capt. Chris Magezi confirmed the promotions.
